Another way of approaching those numbers of yours is this: Given that computers
double there speed every 18 months, double speed gives about one extra ply, and
there are 233 18-month periods in 350 years, then logic dictates that Data can
calculate roughly 233 plies deeper than today's computers. Might as well say he
has chess solved. :-)
