Even with tablebase files, the scores are not convincing. Kc6 and Kc5 are both sure wins. Why isn't the score +32000 or better for both moves? Because the programs have not tracked it clear to the end yet. I think you have to be satisfied with choosing the best move. Even in most good test sets, the score returned is not a checkmate score. If the right move to make is given a score sufficiently larger than the bad alternatives, then I think that is the best we can hope for. Well, we could hope for perfection, but we're not likely to achieve it.
