Where a culture supports the cause its very easy. - Watch out for the Chinese!
(and maybe India) - State support for our version of chess is large now, and
they have many more GM's & IM's then at any previous time in their history.

In the USA, we dominate such sports as Baseball, Football, Tennis & even
Bowling.  Why? Because our media advertises these things as the way to success,
true or not.  Actually its amazing that we have had the success in chess (before
the fall of the Soviet Union & immigration), that we have had.  Very lucky for
us to have had Robert James Fischer between 1959-72.  Not so 'lucky' to have had
this sick human, (as an American citizan), who has become an embarassment to the
game after...
