Dear CCC, http://site2936.dellhost.com/forums/1/message.shtml?212113 http://site2936.dellhost.com/forums/1/message.shtml?212157 After having received quite a few user complaints from CCC members Uri and I have discussed this issue in our role as CCC moderator to keep CCC a sane place. We decided to make it a public case. The issue is about listing your email address in your contributions. This opens the door spamming you, as the 2 above examples show you. In our role as moderator we feel not responsible what happens outside this forum, our job is limited to what is happening here. However we do feel some responsibility because listing your email address is something you perhaps do not want out of privacy reasons. As far as we know the above 2 cases are a new development, we never have heard of previous spamming cases but maybe it has happened already more times, we just don't know. We want to make a couple of suggestions... #1. Leave things as they are. #2. Remove the email address from CCC postings. #3. Have the option to list your email address or not. While we think the basic idea to have your email address listed is just great ( it's handy to contact people in private) we feel worried about the above 2 cases, hence our public action. We also feel it is not our job to decide about this impoortant issue on our own. We would like to hear your opinion and based on the outcome we might ask Steve to modify his software.
