1. Kasparov, Garry g RUS 2838 13.04.63 M
2. Kramnik, Vladimir g RUS 2809 25.06.75 M

maybe some here will want to frame these and hang them over their computer desk.
you could include a picture of kramnik and Deep Blue----standing beside each
other both posing with a smile. i would suggest a frame made from the dogwood
tree.
kramnik makes very strong statements on several topics that are disscussed here
regularly. hard to believe that he really feels the way each statement says.

twelve statements from kramnik interview:

1. After all the world champion is facing the strongest chess program.

2. Believe me, to lose to a computer is twice as painful as losing to a
colleague.

3. If I too should lose then the people will believe that chess computers are
really superior to human beings.

4. In almost every position Fritz7 (600 mhz notebook) was suggesting
objectively better variations (then Deep Blue).

5. The special version of Fritz7 that will run on eight processors in Bahrain I
think will definitely be over 2800 in its Elo performance.

6. Definitely it was a mistake (for Kasparov) to play without any specific
preparation against an opponent (Deep Blue) you know nothing about.

7. As I said Deep Blue did not impress me that much.

8. The fact that even a weaker program (Deep Blue weaker than Fritz7) managed to
beat Garry Kasparov tells us that the match in Bahrain will be a hard challenge
for me.

9. Fritz plays in many ways, like a human.

10. I think that Fritz will perform better than other programs against human
beings.

11. A game like my game against Junior in Dortmund will not be possible against
Fritz.

12. It is really painful to lose to a computer
