Strategy is the now main factor in most computer programs, that is it is the
most important thing to be programmed in. Your statement that todays programs do
not use strategy is incorrect. Positional playing or planning is pure strategy
and it is incorporated into more and more programs as time goes by.
The problem is that it is extremly hard to do.
Tacytics, on the other hand are execelled at. Just search to a fixed depth and
whom ever has captured the most men or had checkmated his opponent is ahead.
Giving weights to controlling the center of the board or limiting the number of
moves that your opponent can make is considered strategy. Sacraficing a man to
gain better control of the board is startegy (notice the word control).
Strategical planning is the ultimate goal of all programmers and they will
continue working on it and perfecting their programs until they can not be beat
by any one, execept maybe another program.
