All you are testing is which program is best when its opening book is disabled. Does this indicate anything useful, I don't think so. Its pretty easy for a programmer to get a program to play sensible looking openings, but many don't bother as an opening book is an easier more effective solution. I think a better idea for what you seem to be trying to do is to play programs starting from various typical middlegame positions. Regards, Peter
