The conventions are the same, specific implementation is not.  For example, in
the US, it is required to register a copyright before pursuing an infringement
case; in other countries [subject to the above conventions] it is unnecessary to
register.  In the US, it is unnecessary to provide a copyright notice on a work
to preserve copyright; in some other countries, it is necessary.
