I played some fast games with Fritz 5 against it some months ago on ICC and it
lost most of them. BUT: It plays nice chess, i.e. the moves look "reasonable"
and it lost gracefully ;-)

The price of $83 (from www.gambitsoft.com) is too high if you don't want the 1.1
million games database that is part of the included ESSENTIA database product. I
guess they thought that ESSENTIA was the main act and Zarkov just a nice addon;
maybe for some folks it's just the other way round an then the pricing is
questionable if you just want the chess engine. After all, Hiarcs 6, Rebel 98 (=
Rebel 9), M-Chess 7 all can be had for about $50 and I'd rather buy 2 of those
and pay the extra $17 instead of taking Zarkov 4.2 and not wanting ESSENTIA.

Just my 0.2$

Moritz
