> >Anyone who is willing to let their program go six games with a GM at 40/2 is an >idiot. > >I'm willing to contribute my program for this purpose. I'm not trying to joke, but it sounds to me as if you just called yourself an idiot? Further it seems as if you just called a lot of other chess programmers idiots. I don't know what the common concensus is about ferret, but it's certainly a monster at blitz, at least according to icc ratings. Is there a trade off in strength for blitz optimization vs 40/2 time controls? For example the Genius program, i personally feel that the reason it's so strong at blitz, is because of its excessively defensive style, it takes a longer period of time to formulate a concrete plan of action, which results in opponents running into severe time pressure. This same search technique which results in this style, i further believe is why programs such as rebel and fritz have outdistanced it in longer time controls. I can either do it via >ICC or ship it to someone who has a P2/400 (which is faster than my Alpha, >probably), or better. > >I'd also be willing to do it via a Kryotech machine, from their site, if they >are interested in getting involved in yet another match. > >I would expect to lose this match, but maybe the games would be interesting, and >perhaps I could learn something from them. > >I'm also willing to do as many blitz games as he wants, although it is my >preference that matches at different time controls be kept distinct, meaning >they would be scored independently. > >He's also welcome to practice as much as he wants with what runs on ICC now. > >bruce
