I have extensive experience of Pascal from pre 1985. It was the most structured
of the languages available on the old NORD mainframes. And have used the GNATS
system for ADA95 programming, but Oberon-2 is much more comfortable a language.
The main problem is not the coding. But the goal of the chess program. Should it
be state of the art? A tutorial project? Portable? The algorithms and data
structures for a FM strenght program are fairly trivial. If you explain your
goal we might compile a list.
