One nice thing about buying it is that you can use their up2date program to
install all of the latest patches. And you can get email alerts when updates
become available. Sort of like the Windows Update feature. You don't need these
features, but you'll probably maintain your system better if they are available
to you. I'm not sure how long your subscription will last for a $50 retail
package though.
