And most beginners (or 1500 players) don't know a >book line 27 moves (54 ply!) deep. those guys are 2500 rated and for them knowing 27 moves is no big problem. also i remember a friend who lost a game 30 moves theory in a subgroup-C of the dutch championship (no one above 1600 allowed even in this group!). Many 1800 players i know here know lines up to these depths. Theory is a great way to compensate for bad play.
