  You will never do it unless you become interested enough in go to learn it
properly.  Then it might take a few months to a year if you devote a little of
your spare time to serious study of the game.  It depends on the person.

  Some people who like go never become strong enough to beat the best programs
in it.  I don't know why, perhaps it is a lack of some crucial talent or they
just do not take the effort to learn, since they are happy to play at novice
level.
