This is where we disagree. Since go is played on different sized boards, then go
played on a 2x2 board is just as much go as it is played on a 19x19 board or a
100x100 board. When a game is scalable like that, you can't say that the size of
the board is "part of the game", because it changes. In other words, if you
claim that the size of the board is "part of the game", then go played on a
board that is any other size than 19x19 is not go, which is clearly not the
case.

If chess were played on a 10x10 board, that would not be chess, but a variant of
chess. If go were played on a different sized board, it is still go, not a
variant of go. That is where I see the difference.
