Good question!  We need to define what we're talking about before proceeding.

I cannot say what the "official" definition is.

What I had in mind was a computer in which separate multiprocessors would be
used together, but not "symmetrically," to achieve a common objective.

The main idea I was focussing on was that the "symmetry" of SMP is not a
requirement.  Tasks associated with individual processors could be similar to or
radically different from those of other processors.

Maybe someone can come up with a better definition of AMP.
