No. As mentioned, there is no reason a winboard compatible chess program cannot be copy-protected in *exactly* the same way as any other chess program. You can make the program ask for the original CD once every month, make the program check for the presence of a dongle, allow only a finite number of installs from a floppy disk, or use any other known copy protection scheme. That the program is compatible with xboard makes no difference at all, and does not make it any easier to send the program to all your friends. Why is this difficult to understand? Tord
