You haven't been keeping abreast of the trends. I would venture to say that
128MB is DEFINITELY recommended for XP, although I suppose you could get away
with 96MB as long as you don't try to run too may programs at once. RAM is cheap
-- go get yourself another 128MB and you'll be happier.

However, you don't NECESSARILY need a fast processor (I imagine any PII would
suffice), but it could be very painful. For me, I would suggest at least a
PIII-500.
