There is nothing in the rules preventing the use of headsets AFAIK, in fact I often listen to music when playing OTB because it relaxes me, and, more importantly, it drowns out the noise and helps me to focus. If, in fact, he was using the headset to cheat, that is a very difficult thing to pull off, why not excuse himself after ever few moves to "talk a walk" and have a consultation with his "friend" pocket fritz ;). The smaller and more powerful chess computers get, the more likely cheating is to occur IMO, but I don't believe that headphones were the problem. Matt
