Yes, that is true, depending on how they are used. If they are used in the
search, they can slow down the overall search speed if a slow hard drive is
being used, or if not enough memory has been allocated for the EGTB cache.

They can also potentially cause problems if some of the EGTB files required by
the search are missing.
