Hello to all friends of ´Chest´ and chess problems, after a week of hard programming I´m happy to announce my new free engine ´ChestUCI Ver.1.0´. This UCI engine is an interface between the absolutely top problem solver ´Chest Ver.3.19´ from Heiner Marxen and an UCI-GUI (as e.g. ´Arena´) Everybody who already knows and uses ´Chest´ will like ´ChestUCI´, as it makes the handling of ´Chest´ much easier and more comfortable. The main features of ´ChestUCI´: ------------------------------- 1) it offers really ALL functions and options of the original ´Chest´ without any limitations or any lost of speed 2) it is possible to play ´through´ all solutions, that ´Chest´ has found 3) you can choose any mainline of multiple solutions for playing BUT: the full functionalty of ´ChestUCI´ is only given under the really excellent chess-GUI ´Arena´! Although it´s possible to use ´ChestUCI´ under ´Shredder´ or ´Fritz´, there are some little (for Shredder) or bigger (for Fritz) limitations. The reason for this is e.g. the incomplete (and very bad) implementation of the UCI standard by ´Fritz´ - so it´s not the fault of my engine. One other problem for some (or many at this forum?) may be, that my documentation of the engine is only in German (but the engine itself ´speaks´ English, of course) - but after more than one week of very hard programming I really don´t like to further translate my program description into English. So if anyone of you has too much free time :-) and would like to do this job for all the English speaking chess-friends here, you´re really invited to it - and send me a copy of it, so that I could include it into my release of ´ChestUCI´. Ich hope, you´ll like my new ´ChestUCI´ (i.e. ´Chest´ under ´Arena´), best reagards from Austria, Franz.
