And was your drive functional afterwards? I had a 52X drive a few months ago and while sitting there the face of it blew off across the room and nearly gave me a heart attack. I took the drive out of my computer and managed to get it open to find thousands of pieces inside. I shook it out and at first it wouldn't read anything but after period of time it started working again. Don't ask me how to explain it.
