Come on! Where is the real choice?

When I buy a peripheral, it is NEVER shipped with a non-Windows driver.

People want digital cameras. When they buy one the only choice they have is to
use Windows.

Only the techies can use another OS (Linux for example) because they will invest
time looking for a driver, or helping to build one.

Most people can't do that, and they have NO choice.

Hey that's exactly what the DOJ is (was) trying to do.

I'm afraid that Microsoft's money and lobbying will eventually silent them
unfortunately.

Thousands of consumers complained, and those complains were backed up by 18
states.

It has been found by the court that Microsoft has illegally used its power to
keep its monopoly in the desktop OS market. The supreme court agreed on these
finding of facts.

But M$ is so powerful that in the end the settlement will just say that
Microsoft must allow the consumer to remove IE and Media Player from the OS.

That's pathetic.

Then I will look for an HP notebook next time.

You don't understand.

Microsoft's game for 20 years now has been to gamble on the ignorance of the
consumers.

Me and you, as advanced users, only represent a minority (say 1%) of the users.
Most of the people using Windows have lots of problems just starting Word,
typing a document and printing it.

They will never dare to change anything to the system's settings.

Basically that means that whatever setting Microsoft chooses as default will be
the setting used by 99% of users.

I started by calling myself stupid.

It's just that I believe that most people will eventually understand. But
later...

Chess Tiger is not designed for Win32.

Chess Tiger has been designed with RHIDE and DJGPP (the GNU C compiler) running
under DOS since 1997. No Win32 at all.

To make it Win32 compatible I just had to add a few #if in the source, and
declare some functions as _export.

Anyway, you miss the point.

I was a Microsoft supporter for many years. Until I finally realized what they
were doing and that it was NOT in the interest of the consumer at all.

A real OS must not crash. Period.

A program can crash, and in this case it must be stopped by the OS. The OS
itself must not crash.

It's not the user's fault when the OS crashes while it is typing a document with
Word. And it has happened billion of times to people around the world in the
last 10 years.

I know it has never happened to you. You are much smarter than that.
