Hi, i have just uploaded 2 of the last versions of Holmes to my homepage (0.8.2v and 0.8.4k), because i want to continue my work on Holmes in the next days or weeks. <pre> new in Holmes 0.8.4k (this version i have used at the CSVN 2002 in Leiden): - <b>pawn hash</b> implemented (default = 1 Mb = minimum) - <b>ponder mode</b> implemented (Winboard commands "HARD" and "EASY") - a complete new holmes.ini and HolmesCfg.exe new params for excample: MakeBeep, OperatorTime, PonderOn, LastLogNumber, MaxLogNumber, AutoSaveGame, LastGameNumber, LearningInc, LearningDec, BookValue Razor_Margin, Extd_Futil_Margin, Futil_Margin, WhiteBookMove, BlackBookMoveOn_a3 ... - new param BookValue (values between 0 and 100) in Holmes.ini Excamples for BookValue: 100 - Holmes plays only the best book moves 25 - Holmes plays good book moves (default) 0 - Holmes plays all moves from book - you can now force Holmes to play a fixed first halv move for excample you can force Holmes to open Nf3 or to answer on e4 with c6 see in HolmesCfg -> OPENING - new param OperatorTime: its an operator time for the whole game, only in sudden death level - new params "LearningInc" and "LearningDec" for book learning - new param "PonderOn" is only the default setting for playing in text mode - AEL pruning implemented (params: Razor_Margin, Extd_Futil_Margin, Futil_Margin) - time management changed - search output in text mode a little bit changed - statistic output in textmode enhanced - NO resign in sudden death levels and where the average move time is smaller than 30 seconds - evaluation enhanced and changed "Quadratregel (in german), wrong bishops and so on" - internal bug in material balance fixed - internal bug in the time management fixed - and a lot more where i can't remember to </pre> <b>Don't use older holmes.ini and the older HolmesCfg.exe for the version 0.8.4k.</b> Holmes 0.8.2v is the same then 0.8.2, but compiled with better compiler settings. This version is in my current blitz rating list 38 ELO stronger than 0.8.2 and 44 ELO stronger than 0.8.2n. Holmes 0.8.2v comes without opening book. Please download it separate or use it from a previous version. <pre> Holmes 0.8.4k - not tested yet Holmes 0.8.2v - 2151 Holmes 0.8.2 - 2113 Holmes 0.8.2n - 2107 Holmes 0.8.1 - 2043 Holmes 0.8.0 - 2055 Holmes 0.4.0 - 2044 Holmes 0.3.4 - 2021 </pre> It could be that the version 0.8.4k isn't stronger or even weaker than 0.8.2v, because the pondering and the pawn hash tables are not very well implemented yet and the time management isn't optimized.
