Qxe5 h5 37. g4 hxg4 38. hxg4 > >which I assume you do not approve of. that is right, i do not approve of that :-) the point of black's setup with f7-g6-h5 is that white would like to create a passed pawn. since his "candidate" is the e-pawn, he would have to play h3-g4-f5-e6, and with every move of this sequence, black will exchange off a pawn. the idea is that white has to expose his king like this to make any progress, thereby allowing black many perpetual check motives. i don't think that there is any point in posting how that game between fritz and me went, since both sides can do more or less as they like. i cannot prove anything with such a game. i only noted that g5? by fritz is a super-weak move in the pawn structure black f7-g6 white g4-f4-e5, for two reasons: 1) without this move white keeps the option of Kh4-g5-f6/h6 which can sometimes be deadly and 2) with this move, the only option white has left is to play f5 (black keeps e6 covered), and after gf5 i don't see how white will ever play either g6 or e6 => no more progress is possible for white. unfortunately, karsten mueller didnt go into any details of this queen ending - too bad, i'd have loved to have his opinion... >Also, would appreciate more details (on sources) of what you consider the >'class' man-machine games.
