During the last days I did some testing with some of the freely
available Winboard engines too.

I used Winboard 4.0.0 and all the games were run on a Pentium 200 MMX
with 64MB RAM.

The tested engines were:

 - Comet A90
 - Crafty 15.18
 - Little Goliath V 1.05
 - Phalanx XVII
 - ZChess 0.92

All engines were configured to use 8 MB Hash tables, and pondering
was disabled for all engines.

The results so far:

                      Game/5 Game/10 Game/60

Comet - Crafty 2-4 - -
Comet - Goliath 8-6 - -
Goliath - Crafty 3-9 1-3 1-6
Phalanx - Comet 9.5-10.5 - -
Phalanx - Crafty 3.5-14.5 - 1-8
ZChess - Comet 1-1 - -
ZChess - Crafty 2-12 - 4.5-3.5

The two most important results for me are at the moment:

- Crafty is leading in all of it's matches so far except for one.
Version 15.18 seems to be very strong!

- ZChess seems to be very strong at longer time controls. It's the
only engine so far which is able to compete with Crafty in game/60,
whereas Goliath and Phalanx lost these matches badly (Comet didn't
  play game/60 yet).
On the other hand ZChess had no chance against Crafty in game/5.

Greetings to all of you!
Have fun!

Heiko.
