As a programmer I feel that I must respond to this. Any program is the personal property of the programmer (unless he or she is specifically employed to write for someone else). If Ed chooses to hide the Rebel Auto232 support, or to leave it out altogether, then that is his business, and if you or I don't like it, then we do not have to purchase the program. By all means voice your disapproval, but that does not mean that Ed does not have *the right* do do as he sees fit with his own program regardless of whether it is popular or not.
