Shredder Paderborn is an update engine version (free, see ChessBase website) of Shredder 6. AFAIK it's the same as version no. 6.02. In Paderborn (Germany), strong computer tournament are held each year. AFAIK Sandro's opening book of the no. 6 version was only available with the UCI version (while the Fritz GUI version used a general book). I think that's what he pointed to when he wrote SSDF has tested the UCI version of Shredder Paderborn, while his book was better for the original version than for the update. (If I understand that correctly.) I wonder how big the effect really was though, because book learning have both. Btw. I have read, Shredder 7 will contain the book by Sandro Necchi for the Fritz GUI too (.CTG) this time. Regards, M.Scheidl
