If Fritz adopts the Winboard interface, I think that will be absolutely fantastic. On the other hand, if they are some kind of tweaked DLL with no other way to hook except to Fritz, then I say who cares? I am a Winboard fanatic, but I wish all the commercial chess programs would throw away their boards and adopt the Winboard standard. Wouldn't it be great if we could have FICS/ICC battles of Fritz, CM, Rebel, etc. anytime we want and without having to do manual steps except to watch? It would make tournaments between programs much easier to create and administrate. Manufacturers are probably scared of this though. Look at the SSDF stir that caused one manufacturer to rip out the part that lets you play against other computers!!
