Your link above points to a M500 which is a black and white (mono color) machine. Nothing wrong with that, just wanted to point that out. You don't have to connect to your PC ever. But you will usually connect your Palm to to the PC just to try out differnt programs - you will hot sync your Palm with the PC to get the Palm prgrams onto your Palm. In this case, the PC is just acting as a conduit. Palm programs don't run on PC's except under Palm emulation. Your can also synchronize your PC calandar with your Palm calandar. Your Palm and PC calandar will be differnt porgrams, but they will be wriiten in such a way that they can talk to each other. You update the Palm, hot sync with your PC - , your PC calandar gets updated. You update your PC calandar, hot sync with your Palm, your Palm calandar gets updated. It works very nicely and effortlessly. Palms are very handy - especially for appointments and phone numbers -- besides playing chess on the train everyday to and from work. I actually look forward to the train ride - and if the train runs a little late I'm not as upset as I used to get. ;>) Michael Byrne
