You do not even need two machines, both engines can be using the same. Another posibility is to have one computer as "tournament director", which makes the pairings and serves as referee in all the matches of a tournament. It receives the moves from all players and sends them to their respective opponents, and settles any dispute that may arise. You can easily realiza that these tournaments have been considered. José.
