That was his point.  Vincent declares as "impossible" anything he can't do
or anything he doesn't know how to do.

You say "you are sure you don't know more than Vincent about functional
languages".  I'd add "you probably don't know any _less_ than he does either"
since his knowledge in the area seems sadly lacking...
