That was not the debate. The point was that because of the large differences in
opposition, your provisional rating could go down when winning a game, or go up
when losing a game, that lead to a discussion that another (better) way could do
a better job in calculating the provisional rating.

Of course a rating is not reliable when based on only 6 games and big jumps can
happen in the next games. But I think the rating organization should do its best
to get the best estimate. They should compensate as much as possible for the
spread in strength of opposition which is part of reality in ICC. Miguel's
proposal is IMHO just a better way of doing that.
