20 Elo? Perhaps that's what the math says but that figure is certain way off
base. I play on the Fritz 8 GUI constantly and I can assure you that the Dual
Machines there are the only machines that are consistently maintaining elos of
2800 or more. There are only a few single cpu system even in the ballpark range
of that (mine is one of them). Of course I am discussing a speed increase here
of more than the 30% you mentioned. As a whole though even the 2.8 and 3.06 GHz
single cpu systems are considerable higher in elo than the 2.2 GHz Systems.
Perhaps some would argue that the elo figures on the chessbase server are
inflated and to a point that would be true but it is still the strongest chess
room and engine testing ground on the planet and many Grandmasters have gotten
their clocks cleaned when they made the mistake of straying into the engine
room.
