You are right, but that was just because Kittinger wasn't mentioned in the credits of CM3000 (for whatever reason). But IIRC his name appears somewhere inside the code. IMO it was also possible to notice similarities between CM3000 and the NOVAG chess computer programs he wrote too. I.e. he had an opening book which was prepared for (immune against) common traps many chess computers were vulnerable to. The Kittinger book never fell into those traps. Wchess came much later.
