>In previous versions of Rebel, there was always a mention of the estimate >stength increase going to a newer version. But this time around, I can't find >anything on this on Rebel's website. After all, my decision to or not to >purchase Rebel10 is *based* on this very crucial piece of information! Also, is >the increment in strength of Rebel10 over Rebel9 about the same as to Rebel9 >over Rebel8? If you are talking about the increase of strength in the comp-comp area don't expect a big jump here. 20-30 elo points, certainly not more. Rebel10 feels stronger and more stable mainly because of its narrower selective search. So if this is your main worry don't upgrade. In the comp-human are I do claim a big elo jump of at least 50-100 elo not only based on the 5-3 victory against Anand but also on the high quality of the 8 games and my general feelings about anti-GM. Just one but... only 8 games. Impossible to give a precise elo increase. >Rebel9 says 2580 on the CD. What speed PC is assumed here? And is >2580 based on comp-human or comp-comp result? SSDF elo, based on a PII-266 (64 Mb) if memory serves me well. - Ed - >Appreciate any enlightenment here.
