I basically gave up on this one. Starting off at 48K, a 36 ply search took 13 minutes 54 seconds. At 96K/192K/384K/768K I aborted the tests after 20-30 minutes of searching. There were additional fail highs in these tests but apparently the table was small enough that important stuff got zapped and made the searches take longer. One note is that the scores were more accurate (much higher) but so was the time. At the default 3M hash, this 36 ply search takes .865 seconds, and there is not going to be much improvement beyond that. At smaller sizes, the time difference is _remarkable_. So for this position 3M (for Crafty) is the critical size. Anything >= that results in instant 36 ply searches, anything smaller results in trememdous searches.
