We have someone sending me pictures of dead American troops, telling me that
they are "good" Americans, and expressing satisfaction that these Americans have
attained this state. We also have another email showing an image of someone who
is being tortured now, if past performance is any guide.

I am an American. If someone sends me this kind of material in email, I take it
the hardest possible way. I have a responsibility to the people in the pictures
to do this. Those people are in the armed service of my nation. Two of them
died for me, and one is in a dire situation.

I feel the same regardless of the justness of the war. I don't give a damn
about the justness of the war, ** in this context **.

There is essentially no other image that could have provoked this reaction. A
burning flag, I am in Graz. Any amount of argument against the war, I am in
Graz. Personal insults, I am in Graz. But this kind of stuff, there is no way
that I am anywhere near Graz.

A lesson of Vietnam is that ** you do not spit on an American enlisted man **.
To those who would suggest that I try to understand the position of others
involved in this, you need to understand *my* position on this.
