Exactly: the normal saying would be if the second part contained no word
"soldier", that would then be the most general expression. But here in Chrilly's
version the realm is narrowed to the notion soldier. Since Bruce is no soldier
... but you can't understand all this. It's a typical European cynism.

Simply learn to read for a start, this could help. I said "political art".

Was that my intention? I write my opinions but I do have no interest in winning
support from specific groups. In case of doubt I write from a European
standpoint. If USA Americans can't understand - well, tough for them! But
nothing sensational. And surely no reason to make contortions...
