Sorry, but just your wannabe "academical", "logical", "scientific", "consistent" etc. approach is great nonsense from my point of view. I studied not only music but also physics and musicology therefore I know little bit about science, logic, methodology etc. BTW all this matter is an ethical not academical issue.
