The current version should always play decently on decent hardware, where decent is >= P6/200, which is now pretty common hardware (PII/400's are under 1000 for total system here in the US)... I always "hope" the most recent version is best, because none are released without playing hundreds of ICC games first... But, on occasion... stuff happens.. :)
