Thanks for confirming this... my point of creating a weak personality was to isolate the problem. Obviously, if the engine is playing weak, I know I got the settings to work instead of the "default" settings. I believe that for whatever reason, the engine is not getting the parms, or they are getting sent incorrectly (possibly a syntax error in the eng file) causing the engine to ignore them, thus going to default values. My goal is to use SKR and the others, but all of those are very strong so it is not so readily apparent the settings are set properly vs. default. That's also why I tried removing everything from the text file and tried to set everything with no configurable options. This did work. So this tells me that the paths are OK, the engine is ok and capable of the settings, they just don't get set properly via the [Extras], etc. Thanks, Brian On May 02, 2003 at 12:08:09, Kurt Utzinger wrote: >On May 02, 2003 at 11:24:23, Brian Thomas wrote: > >>Hi Kurt -- >> >>Yes, this text file and all text files are in this directory (c:\program >>files\chessbase\engines\cm).
