I gave Rebel 15 min avg CPU time/move to analyze a complete game. But after 12 1/2 moves, Rebel seems to be stuck. Even as I am writing this (on a diff PC btw) Rebel has been stuck in this particular postion for 14h 30m- 58 times longer than it is supposed to be. From previous experience with Rebel9, I know that Rebel can take as much as 8 times longer than the preset avg CPU time, but 58+ times is somewhat ridiculous. I am now thinking that Rebel probably won't even stop computing now. It likes this position too much! :) (Hmmm..hash seems to be stuck at 91% for the longest time.) Anothing thing that I dont' understand is why does Rebel have to calculate twice for each particular move; one for the best move, one for the actual move played. Can it not assign a score for the actual move played while finding the best move? Is there an option to not score the actual move played, thereby speeding things up? After all, I dont' care how good/bad (probably bad) my move is. Very often, I just want to know what the best moves are. (Incidently, I wish that Rebel would list the top 3-5 moves in writing the analysis, and not just one. After all, the whole idea of analysis is to explore alternate moves, the what ifs...) I also don't particularly understand why the combination isn't a workable option when analyzing a complete game. I would surely want Rebel to find tactical moves as fast as it can be it in a single position or in a complete game. PGN output (with move notes) for Rebel9 doesn't work with TASCBASE which can read PGN. Does anyone know if PGN from Rebel10 would work? Is Anti-GM also good for long analysis? 15 min or more/position? Overall, Rebel10 is an excellent program (best looking also), and I hope that Rebel for Windows would be even a further improvement. ( I heard that Rebel Windows that is coming out in 1 year's time would also be Rebel10? Shouldn't it not be Rebel11 by then?)
