Then it's not chess anymore.

Just the fact that the board would no longer be 8x8 means a complete rewrite,
bitboards and 0x88 would not be possible.
It would be very hard to sell this one (no power of two?) to the computer chess
community.
FRC is 100 times easier to support, at least for me hehe ;)

But think also of all the wooden chessboards all over the world, they would be
useless for this game.

FRC is good because it puts a spin on normal chess, you could actually learn
something about chess by playing FRC, I think.

I have played it a few times and it really is a lot of laughs, it's new, it's
exciting, it's unchartered terrain, yet it is chess.
