Tablebases might not have any significant impact on playing strength, but they
offer one important advantage from my viewpoint. They shorten games. Something
that one can learn to appreciate after watching two engines torture a drawn
ending for a couple of extra hours. If time isn't a problem then their use is
optional IMHO.
