Subject: Rebel 10 and system crash

I had the following problem after installing Rebel 10. Please HELP!

First, my system: Micron Transport XKE notebook computer, Pentium 266MHz, 128
MB RAM, video card = NeoMagic MagicGraph 128XD, Windows 98. Computer is 6
months old.

Installation of Rebel 10 went without incident. Installation created shortcut
with path C:\REBEL10\REBEL.EXE W9. This resulted in hash table size of 100MB.
At this level, program started up fine, but then after a few moves, or in just
exploring the menus, mouse pointer disappeared and system froze up.
Ctrl-Alt-Del brought up task list and when I tried to end task on Rebel 10,
screen went completely white and system did not recover. Had to do a cold
reboot.

Then tried to decrease the hash table size. Went down to 40MB. Same problem,
requiring cold boot.

At this point it was clear that Windows itself had taken a hit and system was
extemely unstable, crashing with other programs, usually indicating some problem
in kernel32.dll. System remained unstable (it seemed as if there must have been
some corruption of the registry from all the improper shutdowns) and I finally
formatted hard drive and did an emergency recovery from a back-up tape. System
has been fine since then.

Please note that I have been running Rebel 9 with no problems on the exact same
system for months.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

regards,
Marc Levine
