I'm currently playing the national championship Mästarklass group. And am
buying a slew of good books. A couple are opening books. But one of them is of
general interest. 'Pirc Alert!' gives a thoruough walkthrough of plans available
for black defending a cramped position. It deals with Ruy, Phillidor, Dragon and
Kings Indian like setups. The Grunfeld books are a tad specific, but
Understandig the Grunfeld orders variations by theme and reasons about the plans
against an isolated passed d pawn. And the centre versus pressure. The other
books are 'Super Tournaments 2002' and 'Sorcerers Apprentice' (Bronstein even
has some games against computers.). All fine books that will give useful advice
on the middlegame.
