I'm sorry to step in, but PalmOS programs generally continue to work fine when PalmOS evolves. For example Chess Tiger for PalmOS, designed for PalmOS 4, ran without a single change on PalmOS 5. And PalmOS 5 was not just an evolution of the OS. It was a complete rewrite to let the whole platform run on another PROCESSOR!!! The PalmSource guys even contacted me (I had never been in contact with them before) to inform me that Chess Tiger ran fine on PalmOS 5 but that I did not exactly follow the OS guidelines and pointed out a small thing that could make it incompatible with FUTURE versions of the OS. And it was a minor glitch: a minor display problem. In other words they warned me of a potential problem ONE FULL YEAR before the problem could have affected any customer! Can you believe that? These guys are so involved in their OS that they do some debugging for you! Looks like one company (Palm/PalmSource) cares about compatibility, their customers and their developpers, while the other one (guess who they are) does not. Oh, well... Christophe
