Hi all: Being a country with so many people loving chess and so few people having money, is not amazing that in Russia has appeared the most developped and incredible piratic of chess programming of all the world, just beginning to make a dent in Occident. A journalist friend returning from Russia has bought there CD roms where until the last Mb is used to copy almost all program ever produced Occident. I am not talking of piece meal copying, but massive one. The CD Rom he bought brings all Fritz versions, all Chessmaster versions, all Rebel versions, all freeware and shareware programs, all Genius versions, all M-Ches versions, databases from CB and CA, etc, etc. The list is awesome. Chess sellers said to him that they were ready to comes to Europe in force with his production. It seeme they were oreparing carefully his network of distribution all this time keeping a relatively low profile and just selling in black market in Russia. Fats are they are going to offer old, new and even very recent program co-exist side by side, in scores, in one or two Cd Rom at ridiculous prices. There is almost non program than they have not dissamnled to destroy the safe code or whatever. In order to accomplish his bussiness databases are somewhat mutilated, shortened or completely cutted, but all in all the programs are intact in his engines capabilities and even sometimes with an amount of his features in database operations. And all this for less money you need to get a pizza in Moscow's Mc Donalds. If this is not another threat to what I consider an already menaced industry, then what it is one. Beware Amir, Ed, etc. Fernando
