Hello,Your in the same Boat as Me Friend. I want the fastest/strongest Hardware I can get My hands on for My Chess Programs. Thru-out the Years,I have purchased 6 different Boxes to play My Programs with. I bought One right after Another to try to keep up with new technology. You know faster processors, more memory, better operating systems. Well I kinda tierd of "KEEPING UP WITH THE JONES". So I have decided to buy a system that will be cutting edge technology for a while to come. I'm referring to Amd's new Operton 64 bit technology. Just like You ,I am prepared to spend a large amount of money on the Hardware I need to be very competitive at Chess with My Programs. I am still pricing componets and I believe a Dual Opterons(246 2ghz each),a couple gig of registered DDR Memory, with a operating system such as Windows Server 2003(64 bit),could be brought about somewhere around 4800.00. Now Friend, that system I just menioned would put shame on Intel dual Xeon 3.06 ghz and even a dual Althon 2600. Check the benchmarks Yourself, don't believe Me. Currently ,I'm torn between a Dual or a Quad Opteron. Of coarse the Quad would be alot faster and stronger but more exspensive also. Wasn't It a Quad Box and Deep Junior that was used to tie Karspov? If You see it like I do,that 5000.00 You had to spend on a dual system might be light for a quad Box, but You'de have something that would be very hard to beat without another one with the same configeration. Presently, there are only a few Programs that could be used in this 64 bit mode. I do believe very soon They'll probualy all will be 64 bit.>>>>Mike
